Description from the seller
Tableau portrait "La larme bleue" - 2026
This work falls within an abstract figurative register, blending vigorous gesture and organic geometry.
The figure is isolated at the center of a white background lightly nuanced with gray and powdered blue. The principal motif, although deconstructed, suggests a human face in profile or three-quarter view.
A solid blue area is discernible in the upper right, evoking an eye or hair, extended by a fine vertical blue streak — the famous "tear" — that runs through the composition downward until it meets a red block representing the mouth. The left side is dominated by warm tones of yellow, orange, red, balanced by blocks of green and violet.
The subject remains identifiable as the face, but it is completely deconstructed to favor the pure expression of feelings and of the matter.
The decomposition of the face into blocks of bright colors recalls Fauvism for the pure use of color, and Cubism for the fragmentation of planes.
Portrait by painter Yves Decaudan - 1954
Yves Decaudan's work is part of a colorful figurative vein, heavily influenced by Fauvism,
The artist's work is characterized by expressive and poetic figuration, guided by a keen sense of color and the synthesis of forms. The artist privilégies (prefers) flat areas of pure, intense colors — such as this deep blue confronted with vivid red — creating an immediate, radiant visual tension.
Through backgrounds worked in texture or speckled with light brushstrokes, he establishes a poetic depth rather than a geometric one.
Painting exhibited at the Paris Autumn Salon - 2022
Delivered with certificate of authenticity, directly from the studio.
Acrylic on canvas, cotton canvas, wooden frame, unframed, dimensions 80 x 60 cm
