Biography:
Kobalt, born in Paris in 1970, embodies the trajectory of a polymorphic artist whose creativity has unfolded from electronic music to contemporary graphic art. Coming from a family where art was already present thanks to his father, a draftsman, Kobalt discovers his first passion at a very young age: music creation. This passion guides him in his youth, and his early talents lead him to make a bold decision: to invest the money intended to fund his higher studies in creating his first album.
Distributed by EMI, the album did not achieve the expected success, but it marked the beginning of a rich artistic career full of experimentation.
Parallel to his musical career, Kobalt engages in the world of advertising as a designer/writer for the iconic Playboy magazine. For many years, he dedicates his creativity to the publication by creating and realizing the magazine's advertising campaigns.
The turning point in his career occurs in 2005 when he becomes a cameraman, thus exploring a new facet of the visual world. In 2007, he discovers a passion for photography, adding another artistic string to his bow. In 2010, he successfully founds his own photo agency, highlighting his entrepreneurial spirit.
In 2017, Kobalt makes a radical choice to sell his agency to wholeheartedly embrace graphic art, influenced by his son, who has become a major figure in global street art. A pioneer of computer-assisted art creation, Kobalt stands out with more than 3000 works sold in galleries and online to date.
His artistic approach is marked by bold use of humor, provocation, and anachronisms, with a particular fondness for reappropriating magazine covers—a style that makes him instantly recognizable.
Despite the digital era, Kobalt has chosen to stay away from social media, preserving a certain privacy. Today, he uses all available digital tools to bring his creations to life, continuing to push the boundaries of artistic expression with a subtle mix of inspiration, innovation, and humor.
