Description from the seller
The Spanish artist Joan Raset (1938-2019) was born in Barcelona, Spain. He trained and worked in technical architecture, but in the 1970s he was drawn to abstract painting, pastel portraits, and figurative works to which he attributed his later artistic development.
Dimensions: 49 x 57
His pastel works and drawings, heavily influenced by Egon Schiele, are distinctive and led to several contracts with publishers. El “Desnudo femenino al Pastel" (The Female Nude in Pastel) was one of his most popular books, widely used in art schools around the world. In the 1990s, he began exhibiting from Japan to the United States and Europe with remarkable success. In a personal figurative style between Post-Impressionism and Expressionism, he produced pastels, drawings, and oils on canvas with the female figure as his main subject.
