German silver shell-shaped snuff box - Rococo - circa 1770
A beautiful German silver snuff box from the second half of the 18th century, circa 1770, executed in a characteristic shell shape.
The box is richly decorated with chased Rocaille and floral motifs, fitting the Rococo style of the period. The hinged lid is centrally adorned with an engraved monogram.
The snuff box bears no identifiable city mark or master mark. The silver is described as third quality.
