Box - Russian Fedoskino lacquer box with winter landscape – signed - Wood

Elongated rectangular jewelry- or cigar-box made of black lacquered papier-mâché, featuring a hand-painted winter landscape. The scene shows a snowy Russian village with wooden houses, bare trees and a meandering river or water feature under a pink-orange evening sky.

The lid has a black field with a decorative border in gold- and cream-yellow dot ornamentation. At the bottom, in Cyrillic script, “Федоскино 2000 г.”, indicating Fedoskino, 2000. In the lower right is a small artist’s monogram. The sides are also painted with winter houses and trees.
