Description from the seller

“Cuba Libre Bar” is a painting by Flavia Delgado that reinterprets one of the most emblematic cocktails of Cuban culture through an aesthetic inspired by vintage poster art, Pop Art, and retro advertising illustration.

The composition features a glass of Cuba Libre with ice, lime, and mint leaves, depicted with expressive black outlines and a palette of reds, greens, blacks, and cream tones. The surrounding ornamentation and the large typography “CUBA LIBRE” recall the old posters of bars, cafés, and establishments in Havana.

The work combines references to Cuban culture, classic mixology, tropical aesthetics, and mid-20th-century graphic design, creating an image with a nostalgic yet contemporary character.

“Cuba Libre Bar” is especially appealing to collectors of Pop Art, Cuban art, vintage posters, mixology, Havana culture, retro advertising, and contemporary figurative painting.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
