On this square format, Medsan launches Porco Rosso's red seaplane skimming a Japanese bay under the rain. The aircraft, the only warm spot in the scene, speeds to the left, wings low, leaving behind a long white wake that climbs toward the horizon; in the open cockpit, the pilot's silhouette is discernible, shoulders hunched, head turned forward. Its shadow slides on the water just below.

Around it, rocky islets crowned with pines rise from the sea, a village of tightly packed roofs stretches along the right bank at the foot of the mountains, and the rain falls in long oblique stripes across the width. In the distance, a pale sun peeks through the curling clouds. Everything is contained in a range of blues, from the deep blue of the rocks to the very light blue of the lagoon.
