Vienna Bronze around 1900 – “The Rug Merchant” (Franz Xaver Bergmann)

For sale is an exceptionally finely worked and highly detailed Vienna bronze from the Orientalism era around 1900/1920. The sculpture depicts a standing Oriental rug merchant who proudly presents an elaborately patterned Oriental rug.

Details & Specifications:

• Foundry / Brand: Original Bergmann stamp (impressed “B” in a jug) on the underside of the plinth.
• Material & finish: Bronze, masterfully hand cold-painted (Cold-painted Vienna Bronze). The color gradations and patterns of the rug as well as the figure’s garment are very well preserved.
• Motif: Classic Orientalism – standing rug merchant with an unfolded rug.
• Height: approx. 12 cm
• Width: approx. 16 cm
• Rug length: approx. 12 cm
• Weight: 515 g
• Condition: Excellent preservation state with beautiful patina and original mounting. A true display piece for discerning collectors.
