Description from the seller

Gebrüder Thiel Ruhla – German alarm pocket watch – chromed case – 1920s-30s – working with alarm

Description:

Antique alarm pocket watch (Wecker) from the German brand Gebrüder Thiel from Ruhla, Thuringia. Thiel was at the end of the 19th century the first German company to produce affordable pocket watches in series and grew into one of the leading watch manufacturers in Germany; after WWII the factory was nationalized to become the well-known "UMF Ruhla".

This piece is a clock-alarm version: in addition to the normal hour and minute hands, the dial has a separate red alarm-setting hand, allowing you to set the desired wake-up time. At the bottom of the dial is a seconds subdial. The dial is marked "FOREIGN", and in the case back is engraved "Made in Germany" together with the original signature logo of Thiel (the word "Thiel" in ornamental script, with the accompanying mower-like figure). This double mark indicates an export model for the British market from the interwar period, presumably the 1920s-1930s.

Features:
- Brand: Gebrüder Thiel, Ruhla (Germany)
- Type: alarm pocket watch (mechanical, manually wound)
- Case: chrome-plated/ nickel-plated metal, ribbed bezel edge, snap-on back
- Dial: cream/white with black Arabic numerals, subdial at 6 o'clock, red alarm-hand
- Markings: "FOREIGN" on the dial, "Made in Germany" + Thiel signature and mower-logo in the case back
- Case diameter: 52 mm, excluding crown
- Weight: 100 g including chain
- Included: watch chain (bicolor gold/plated, possibly not original to this watch) and [loose securing clip/tool – brief description if you know what it is]

Condition:
The watch runs well and keeps time. The alarm function also works properly. [Fill in any signs of wear here: scratches on the glass/case, any rust spots in the case bottom visible in the photos, condition of the chain, etc. — be as specific as possible, that saves discussion later.]

Note: this is a 90-100 year-old item; some signs of age (light scratches, patina) are normal and contribute to the antique character.
