Description from the seller
Nicole Lubbers is a Dutch visual artist from the eastern part of the country. Her work is characterized by a renewed and idiosyncratic approach to abstract art, in which painting, relief, and sculptural elements come together. With rich colors, layered structures, and diverse materials, she creates powerful works around themes such as resilience, movement, strength, and transformation.
Her international career has shown strong development in recent years. Lubbers was proclaimed Artist of the Year 2024 at the Belgrade Biennale, received the Institutional Award of the Municipality of Montecosaro, and placed second at the World Art Awards as Most Innovative Artist 2024. She was also listed among the 100 best female artists in the world and recognized as Master in Art.
Internationally, her work has been shown and is planned for exhibitions in New York, Venice, Florence, Belgrade, Belgium, China and Montecosaro, alongside exhibitions in Dutch galleries.
A notable highlight is Beyond the Surface, a solo exhibition on Times Square in New York. In addition, Nicole, together with artist Michael Lam, presents the exhibition Harmony in Motion: Two Artists, One Vision. Here, Lam’s flowing Single Stroke Painting and Lubbers’ expressive, layered structures meet. The color purple forms the connecting line between two different artistic languages and symbolizes creativity, spirituality, and transformation.
The work of Nicole Lubbers is more than decoration. Her compositions invite reflection on perseverance, growth, and overcoming challenges. Each piece forms a powerful and tangible statement that gives a space character, energy, and individuality.
In addition to her work as a visual artist, Nicole Lubbers is also known as a doll maker. Her artworks are delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
