Description from the seller
This is a rare large vintage photograph, approximately 23.8 x 35.6 cm (about 9.3 x 14 inches), taken by the famous Sicilian photographer Calogero Cascio, during his renowned reportage in Vietnam in 1963 exploring the Cao Dai religion (Caodaism), born in that country in 1926 from Ngo Van Chieu’s “divine inspiration,” who founded this religion, a mix of Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Islam, and also Christianity, with the Cao Dai god, and the main seat in Tay Ninh city, also in Vietnam, a religion that today counts about 5/6 million followers. In the photo we see a Cao Dai devotee near the life-sized statue of one of their Saints, carved in wood. This is a genuine vintage photograph, properly stamped on the back by Calogero Cascio himself, with his old stamp, also bearing the stamp of a famous Italian magazine of the time that published this image in March 1963. Excellent overall condition, 100% authentic guaranteed.
