In Svartalfheim, the dwarven realm, everyone joyfully celebrates the marriage of Boldhür and the magnificent Vanika. But even though King Svart is very happy for his son, he cannot help thinking of his beloved Estelyne who has been asleep for ages in an enchanted slumber. That same night, the king is approached by the goddess Freyja: she wishes that the dwarf defies the sacred rules and forges for him the key to the nine worlds, promising in return the antidote that will awaken his beloved. The temptation to see his wife again is too great, and the king accepts the bargain. But to forge the powerful key, he must fuse two opposing elements: water from Niflheim and a flame from Muspellheim, two distant worlds guarded respectively by the giants Bolthorn and Surt. To face them, the king calls upon his son Boldhür and his very young wife, who set off at once. Their honeymoon journey will prove to be much more eventful than expected…
