This work, seemingly simple, invites reflection on the speed that modern life imposes on us. The flowers are the metaphor of the ephemeral, the beautiful, the sublime, which has a limited time and which must be enjoyed with time and calm. Things that seem to be rushing by are not appreciated or enjoyed. Flowers and plants are almost blurred and faint in the background, contrasting with the linear drawing of the leading flowers, which may be about to wither or about to rise again with a little light and water.
María Burgaz (born 1970) knew from a very young age that her vocation lay in art. She began her training at the Madrid School of Decorative Arts and earned a Fine Arts degree in Painting from the Complutense University of Madrid in 1993. Later she completed her studies at FIT in New York.
Winner of competitions such as the Wellington Foundation, Professional Football Foundation, Woman and Society, Iberdrola-UEX, UNED, Eugenio Hermoso, Gran Casino de Torrelodones… her work is not only part of the collections of these institutions but also figures in those of town councils such as Gibraleón, Valdemoro, Martos, Horche, and the Alicante Provincial Council…
She has held dozens of solo and group exhibitions in Spain and abroad, and her work is also found in numerous private collections around the world.
Her industrious and enthusiastic spirit has led her to participate in all kinds of projects and to collaborate with designers, writers, and everything that allows her to express everything she carries inside. Her work always reveals the stage she is living through, her vitality, and her particular sense of humor and way of understanding life, always with mastery of techniques that she combines and juxtaposes to create unique, richly narrative and technically accomplished paintings.
Her works always include a certificate of authenticity, and when they are on canvas they are shipped rolled in a rigid tube for greater security.
