Very first and most beautiful edition of The Tempest by William Shakespeare, published in 1913 by the Istituto Italiano Arti grafiche, enriched with the beautiful illustrations by Edmund Dulac applied out of text in a frame with talking tissue guards. Illustrations in excellent condition, page margins with illustrations showing light sporadic stains. Text pages with widespread but uniform browning at the margins, but the text very clean. Frontispiece with slight creases at the edges—see photos. Some tissue guards with light signs of wear at the edges. Original green cloth binding with illustrations and titles in gold on the front board and spine, small stains of the era and dust on the cloth—see photos. Stunning. Rarity.
