Magnificent torso of Lady Justice. Lady Justice is the Roman goddess and the personification of justice and the law, with the three key features:
- The blindfold: This stands for fair justice without regard to persons; the judge does not look at someone's origin, wealth, or status.
- The scales: This stands for the careful weighing of the facts, the evidence, and the arguments from both sides.
- The sword: This represents the power of the law and the verdict that is pronounced (and that the law can also strike with).
