Description from the seller
AMA • Pope (1985) - "Pokémon Sanctuary" - POKÉMON - 4/30
Discover "Pokémon Sanctuary," a colorful and irreverent Pop Art work born from the alliance between the Pokémon universe and a reimagined religious symbolism.
In this new limited series of 30 unique pink copies for 2025, artist Pope of the AMA collective pushes provocation even further: here, Jesus disappears. All that remains is a kaleidoscopic sanctuary where Pikachu, Charizard, and countless creatures occupy the entire cross. This divine work, under blue light, transforms and reveals intense and captivating fluorescent nuances.
This epoxy resin crucifix, handmade, transforms into a profane temple, an explosion of colors where popular culture takes precedence over sacred tradition.
Each edition, numbered, is unique in its inclusions and composition.
The piece can be placed or hung thanks to its brass hook on the back.
Bid now to add to your collection one of the most exclusive and disturbing Pop Art pieces from AMA.
Dated, signed, numbered, delivered with an authenticity certificate "AMA".
Fast and careful shipping (bubble wrap, tissue paper, reinforced cardboard) with signature on delivery.
Who is Pope?
Pope, cofounder of the AMA collective, develops a distinctive artistic universe built on a lifelong practice of visual arts, a meticulous attention to detail, and careful visual research.
Through sculptures, paintings, and installations, he draws inspiration from photography, urban landscapes, and everyday scenes, with a sensitive and amazed gaze, attentive to both the simplicity and the complexity of the world around him.
Pope mainly draws inspiration from the world around him but also from currents of renowned artists such as Banksy, Keith Haring, Koons, Orlinski, Takashi, Fred Allart, Shepard Fairey, Warhol, Yayoi Kusama, Richard Hamilton, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Alec Monopoly, KAWS, Pantone, Mr. Brainwash, Blek le Rat, to name just a few.
Whether as a gift, a keepsake, or your personal collection of contemporary art, you will easily find your favorite thanks to the diversity of our works. Indeed, Pope pursues his passion for urban art through street art (streetart) and pop art (popart) (in limited editions or not), tackling a wide range of themes such as cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ethereum), the dollar, money, gold, wealth, the sex industry, the harms of drugs, luxury brands and haute couture, the world of comics and video games, the pharmaceutical industry and medicines, recycling and upcycling, food industry and fashion products (sport, sneakers...),
Brands guide our choices and often our lives without us realizing it. Conscious of this impact, Pope enjoys wittily detouring labels such as Louis Vuitton (LV), Chanel, Dior, Hermès, Prada, Gucci, Rolex, Yves Saint Laurent (YSL), Supreme, Obey, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Bugatti, AMG, Mercedes, Nike (Air Jordan), Adidas (Stan Smith), Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Marvel and Avengers (Batman, Joker, Superman...), Disney (Mickey, Scrooge McDuck...), Nintendo, Sega, Tintin, Lego, Pokemon, Vans and many others.
Dear bidders, our collective makes every effort to ensure that all information necessary to appreciate the lot is clearly detailed in the listing: dimensions, weight, description, and photos... After the sale, no unfounded claims will be accepted. Thank you for your understanding.
