LORIN - Own measure

Original Lorin painting, part of an ongoing exploration of the human figure that emerges from tactile surfaces and color. Lorin’s research focuses on the female figure as an emotional and symbolic space, where presence, identity and perception converge.

"Own Measure" stems from the idea of measure as the criterion by which we evaluate ourselves and what surrounds us. For a long time “to be up to it” meant confronting parameters set by others: expectations, models, timelines and milestones that often end up becoming ours without us noticing. "Own Measure" instead suggests the possibility of choosing a personal measure, built on one’s own experience and not on comparison.
In the painting the figure appears gathered in a moment that is entirely her own, while the intense red of the dress and flowers emerges from a quieter and more worn environment. She does not seem to seek approval or attention: she simply occupies her own space, at her own pace.
