Villeroy & Boch Schramberg – Majolica Plate with Chestnut Leaf Decoration – Form 281 – c. 1890
Decorative antique majolica plate by Villeroy & Boch, Schramberg factory, dating from the late 19th century.
The striking design features highly modeled green chestnut leaves on a textured yellow-gold ground, accompanied by small pink flowers. The most distinctive feature is the elaborate molded border with an interlaced basket-weave appearance in brown and ochre tones.
The reverse bears a circular impressed factory mark, the model/form number 281, and an additional small impressed mark.
