Description from the seller
Bronze and steel sculpture by Spanish sculptor Pancho Porto, edition of 25 numbered and signed pieces.
Pancho Porto (Santiago de Compostela, 1988) began his training in the specialty of artistic cabinetmaking at the Antonio Failde center in Ourense. At this school he had his first contact with disciplines such as carving, drawing, and modeling, and, more importantly, with workshop work.
Later he enrolls at the Mestre Mateo School of Arts and Crafts in Santiago de Compostela, where he studies what will become his main discipline: sculpture. It is at this school that he already works with materials that will be basic in his work, such as steel or clay. Parallel to this, Porto continues his personal studying and investigates other materials such as bronze or resins and their multiple uses and finishes.
After this initial training stage, he decides to install his studio on the banks of the Sarela River, very close to where he was born. It is here that he begins his particular theoretical and practical research into the relationship between the materials used in each work and the message they convey. This leads him to seek new proposals for communicating and narrating his story. Since then, this has been the regular approach of his works, endowing the entire body of his work with complexity and depth, with themes that touch both the social sphere and his personal experiences.
