Description from the seller
Oil painting on canvas with the addition of pieces worked with DAS
Laura Muolo, born in 1975, a Milanese by birth and a Rimini native by adoption. She approaches art as a self-taught artist since 2013. Her starting medium is graphite, with which she immediately seeks the realism of faces, later approaching other media such as pastel and painting.
She participates in many group shows across Italy and internationally. Her works are part of several private collections in the United States, Australia, Japan, France, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, and Italy. She has held three solo exhibitions: in the hall of the Municipal Theatre of Montescudo (RN) in August, at Galleria Arte e Vacanze in Punta Marina di Ravenna (RA) in September 2019, and in the hall of the Priori Palace in Volterra in June 2023.
Laura’s works are in constant evolution toward an irrefrenent search for the meaning of events in human life, the transformation they induce in our unconscious and their memory, narrated and brought to the surface through subtly surreal and often symbolic contexts. Her genre is figurative, in fact her works speak through portraits of people, who can be immersed in dreamlike landscape contexts or can also speak and convey their true thoughts through the projection of their own shadow.
The preferred medium is oil painting, occasionally replaced by pastel.
She collaborates with writer Nadezhda Giorgieva Slavova for the realization of the cover of her poetry book entitled "Notturno" published at the end of July 2015.
Her painting “Temporal Suggestions” was selected in 2023 by writer Vanessa Albus/Volker Haase (Ed.) for the book “philosophy autobiographical at school and university.”
Chosen along with nine other contemporary artists by the direction for the Premio Marchionni to create a work specifically for the exhibition “Plaisir I’m Not” at the Ruzittu Civic Museum in Arzachena – Olbia, to be shown with great masters such as De Chirico, Magritte, Severini and Sironi from April 21 to July 23, 2023.
Several awards won since 2021: Finalist for the Marchionni prize in 2021-2022-2023 (the year she also wins the itinerant exhibitions prize) and finalist in 2024; Finalist for the Mestre painting prize in 2022 and in 2024 receives a merit certificate from the same prize in painting; winner of the Prisma Art Prize second prize in 2021 – winner of the Cash Prize at Malamegi Art Rome 2023 – winner of the first prize in painting at the contest “Where is the Future” organized by the gallery “La Grande Bellezza” of Volterra in 2023 and in 2022 the 3rd prize in the contest “Where is Love.” - finalist in painting for the Marchionni Prize 2024.
