The Mart Signed Museum

For years, the Where Are You Street Art? project has told the journey of street art through authentic fragments of urban walls, symbolically bringing the street inside homes, galleries, and private collections.

With this new series, The Mart Signed Museum is born, a natural evolution of Mart Signed’s artistic research.

The project stems from a simple reflection: what happens to a work when it finds its final placement?

A museum protects, preserves and hands it to the future, but at the same time it restrains it. It can remain hung on the same wall for decades, observed by millions, without being able to continue its journey.

From this idea, an imaginary museum was born in which some works symbolically choose to escape.

Each work appears as a fragment torn directly from the museum wall. Not only the artwork is taken away, but also a part of the wall that housed it, transforming the museum itself into an integral part of the work.

The collector does not merely buy a painting, but a fragment of The Mart Signed Museum, becoming the next stop on their journey.

The museum artwork

The wall, the frame, the museum tag and the other elements present are not mere decorative details.

They recreate a portion of the imaginary museum and are an integral part of the work.

The surface of the wall, the irregularities, the marks and the material contribute to creating the contrast between the spontaneous language of street art and the orderly, institutional language of the museum space.

The work shown in the photographs is exactly the one that will be received by the collector. No replica, reproduction, or different work will be shipped.

Materials and authenticity

The recovered materials are chosen to maintain a living connection with the original language of street art.

Marks, irregularities, abrasions, surface variations and natural imperfections are not defects, but intentional elements and an integral part of the artwork’s identity.

Each material preserves its own history and contributes to the unique character of the piece.

The work is delivered ready to hang and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.

The journey of the work can continue even after purchase.

Mart Signed is an Italian street artist active internationally.

His works have been sold to private collectors in over 50 countries and are part of international collections.

His artistic research focuses on the relationship between street art, urban memory, recovered materials and the exhibition space.

Through his projects, Mart Signed brings the language of the street into homes, galleries, private collections and spaces traditionally distant from the urban context.

The artist has also participated in documentaries dedicated to street art and has taken part in a documentary about Banksy.

Edition and uniqueness

The Mart Signed Museum comprises a limited series of 10 unique works.

Each piece is produced individually and no two frames can be identical. The shape of the wall fragment, the fracture, the surface, the marks, imperfections, the frame and the material elements naturally vary from piece to piece, making every piece unique.

The 10 works share the same artistic project and the same museum concept, but each maintains its own physical and visual identity.

These are therefore not 10 copies or reproductions of the same work, but 10 unique and different pieces, all belonging to the series The Mart Signed Museum.

Each work is identified by a specific code listed on the certificate of authenticity.
