A deep, uniform ultramarine blue covers the entire surface, worked with minute touches that give it a soft, continuous vibration. In the center gathers a bloom of red and garnet poppies, dense and earthy, radiating outward and thinning into small suspended dots. A few stems barely hinted at descend downward, very light, almost a shadow on the bottom. The composition is essential, entirely built on the relationship between the breadth of blue and the luminous concentration of red.
