"De curatione per sanguinis missionem libellus" or "Little book on care by bloodletting" is a famous medical treatise by the ancient physician Galen, here in the first Latin edition of 1550, Lyon, by the editor and printer Thibaud Payen (known in Latin as Theobaldus Paganus). This specific sixteenth-century edition boasts editorial care and the commentary of the renowned German physician and botanist Leonhart Fuchs (professor at the University of Tübingen), as indicated on the title page and accompanied by a rich index of the treated subjects. Galen (Claudius Galenus, 129–216 A.D.) was a renowned physician, anatomist and ancient Greek philosopher of Roman citizenship, whose theories dominated Western medicine for about thirteen centuries.
