Interesting genre scene executed in oil on panel, work by an author belonging to the European school of the mid-19th century, probably of French origin. The composition depicts two young people in a garden or natural setting, occupied in the gathering of flowers.

In the foreground, one of the figures sits on a reddish cloth and raises her arm to reach for some roses. The second young woman remains behind her, holding flowers in her hands and directing her gaze toward her companion. The arrangement of both figures creates an intimate, pleasant, and evocative scene.

The work is related to European Romantic and genre painting of the central decades of the 19th century. The floral theme, the elegance of the figures, and the sentimental tone of the scene respond to the taste for idealized female representations developed especially in France during this period.
