This recently completed work joins my series of “Divers” (Female Divers), which began six years ago. A series that is particularly dear to me and which I revisit from time to time, adding a new figure to this collection. Here, the diver is captured in the few seconds before the jump, in a moment of concentration, tension, and freedom. Irina Biatturi, winner of the Public Prize and the prestigious President’s Prize at the Florence Biennale 2023 in Italy, honored with the Best European Artist Award at World Art Dubai 2024, and former student of the National University of Art in Bucharest, has devoted her life to painting since childhood. Having lived in several countries, notably Mexico and New Zealand, she now considers Antibes her home and the center of her artistic life.
Her captivating oil paintings, primarily devoted to themes of femininity and sensuality, are deeply influenced by the elegance of Art Deco, the organic forms of Art Nouveau, and the luminous atmosphere of the Côte d’Azur, where she has lived for more than two decades.
Her oil paintings evoke a sense of peace and serenity, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves in the glamorous and captivating atmosphere of the 1920s on the Côte d’Azur. Her works are now part of numerous private collections and have been showcased in prestigious galleries, museums, and international art fairs.
