Description from the seller
Haitian Naive Painting - Cotton Harvest Scene - Signed Francis - 60 x 75 cm
Very beautiful original work from the famous Haitian naïve art school. This canvas painting depicts a rural, lively, typical and timeless scene: the traditional cotton harvest.
The artist presents an immersive composition with a high visual density. The workers, dressed in traditional dresses in vibrant and contrasting colors (hot pink, saffron yellow, emerald green, cobalt blue), are active among the cotton plants. The rhythmic accumulation of woven wicker baskets overflowing with white cotton creates a hypnotic geometric pattern, a major characteristic of the island's folk art.
The mastery of flattened perspective and the richness of botanical details make it a captivating decorative piece.
• Artist: Signed "FRANCIS" in white capital letters at the bottom right (unlisted Haitian school artist).
• Artistic movement: Haitian Naive Art / Cap-Haitien School.
• Era: End of the 20th century / Contemporary.
• Technique: Oil painting on canvas.
• Canvas dimensions: 60 cm x 75 cm
(intermediate format ideal for exhibition).
• Condition: Very good overall. Colors remain extremely fresh, vivid and bright. The canvas shows slight indentations that do not affect the work.
• Frame: Sold without frame / Canvas on stretcher
Careful and tracked shipping.
