His works combine figurative and constructive formal language in a unique way and are today represented in renowned museums as well as major art collections worldwide.
Über Hans Kinkel
The German collector and photographer Hans Kinkel left behind one of the most important private art legacies of German modernism and expressionist art of the 20th century. His collection encompassed works by leading artists from classical modernism to post-war art and connected photography, visual art, and art-historical documents in a unique way. Together with Klapheck, he published the Catalogue raisonné of the graphic arts print graphics from 1977 - 1980. After his death, a significant portion of the estate was presented in the exhibition “From Kirchner to Baselitz – A Century’s Heritage: The Hans Kinkel Collection” at the Germanisches Nationalmuseum. The exhibition made the extraordinary quality and art-historical relevance of the collection accessible to a broad public and established Hans Kinkel’s estate as an important testament to German art- and cultural history.
