In Hummingbird, Sergio Zampieri transforms the lightness of flight into an explosion of matter and color. The small bird seems to emerge from darkness with an almost unexpected force: turquoises, greens and deep blues build its body, while gold and copper release into space like luminous trails, suggesting speed and vibration.
The strong material component does not weigh down the subject, but rather amplifies its movement: the acrylic pastes become light, energy and trajectory. The dark background further enhances the metallic reflections and gives the work a nearly nocturnal and precious dimension.
Hummingbird is thus an image of vital energy and freedom, suspended between figuration and abstraction, where matter itself seems to take flight.
