Raymond Hurtu (born in 1935) – Heliotrope – Wall tapestry on printed canvas – Braun Editions – No. 148/350 – 1960s
Beautiful French wall tapestry on printed canvas after a composition by Raymond Hurtu, published by Les Éditions Braun, Paris, probably in the 1960s.
Decorative composition typical of Hurtu’s work, pairing a large stylized botanical motif with shapes evoking the sun and stars. Beautiful palette characteristic of the era, in brown, ochre, beige, cream and very dark green.
The tapestry bears the inscription R. HURTU in the decorative area at the bottom right.
On the reverse is the original Braun Editions ribbon, bearing the model “Heliotrope” and the edition number.
Edition numbered 148/350.
Dimensions: 66 × 116 cm.
The tapestry includes four small suspension hooks integrated into its upper part, allowing direct wall hanging.
Very good overall condition for its age. The colors on the front are well preserved and the design remains particularly bright. The back lining shows a few creases and slight marks related to time and storage, visible in the photographs.
