Marie de Jonge was born in 1872 in Amersfoort and died in 1951 in Zutphen. She was a painter, draftsman, and drawing teacher. The drawing shows a seated female nude, viewed from the back, with her hair gathered and the head slightly turned to the left. The left arm rests bent on an elevated surface draped with cloth. The legs angle down to the lower right. Underneath the figure hangs a cloth with pronounced folds. The background is largely untreated and contains no described surroundings.
