Description from the seller
Springbank 8 Year Old Local Barley – 2024 Edition
A highly sought-after limited release from Springbank Distillery, showcasing the distillery's traditional approach and its strong connection to the local Campbeltown terroir.
This 8-year-old single malt was distilled in July 2016 using Bere barley grown at High Ranachan Farm, close to the distillery. The whisky was matured in an equal combination of 50% ex-bourbon and 50% ex-sherry casks, before being bottled in December 2024 at a powerful 58.1% ABV.
Only 13,500 bottles were produced. As with Springbank's traditional style, the whisky is non-chill filtered and naturally coloured.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Cracked black pepper, cigar box and fresh sage, with underlying malt, fruit and subtle maritime character.
Palate: Rich and oily, with fresh shortbread and salted caramel followed by herbal notes reminiscent of basil. The combination of malt, oak and gentle spice adds complexity.
Finish: Long, sweet and warming, with prominent notes of soft toffee and lingering spice.
A classic example of Springbank's highly collectible Local Barley series, combining locally grown Bere barley, traditional production methods and natural cask-strength presentation. An excellent bottle for collectors and enthusiasts of Campbeltown whisky.
