Vintage kitchen step stool earlier kitchen ladder with a metal tube frame and wooden treads – about 1950–1970

A particularly characterful vintage kitchen step stool with a metal tube frame, two wooden treads and a rectangular top surface. Once intended as a practical step in the kitchen or workspace, but today primarily attractive as a decorative interior piece or plant stand.

This compact household ladder was particularly popular in the 1950s–1970s. Similar Dutch models from brands such as Brabantia and Holwy combine a metal frame with wooden treads and a compact, space-saving design. Catawiki shows several comparable pieces from around 1950–1970, including models that are nowadays explicitly used as a plant stand as well.

The piece has a warm brown/orange lacquered metal frame, two ribbed wooden treads and a dark top panel. After years of use it has developed a very pronounced industrial patina, with paint splatters, scratches, wear and discoloration. It is precisely this lived-in look that gives the object a lot of character.

Important: this piece is no longer offered for use as a step or ladder. Given its age, wear and construction, it is sold exclusively as a decorative object, for example as a plant table, plant stand or display piece.

Condition
In clearly used vintage condition, with substantial and visible signs of use and aging. The top surface shows many paint splatters, scratches and wear; the metal frame and wooden treads also show paint loss, damage, oxidation and aging marks.

These marks are clearly visible in the photos and form an important part of the object's overall look.

Again: not suitable for use as a ladder. The item is offered exclusively as a decorative plant table or display stand.
