Stamped A.Vigneron - Violin bow - Unknown

Beautiful, old 4/4 violin bow, in excellent condition, with the maker's mark A. Vigneron à Paris, probably of French origin. The round stick, in cross-section, is made of red-brown Pernambuco wood; it is nicely straight, shows hardly any signs of use, and has good tension. The total length of the bow is 73.8 cm, the stick length 72.2 cm, and the playable hair 64 cm; the balance lies in the ideal range of 26 cm, with a total weight of 61 g. The bow has been freshly rehaired, silver-wound and leather-mounted. It has very good playing characteristics, with a rich overtones and a warm, full, and rounded tone.
