LU - Box - Metal, Glass - Cookie display case

Sublime and very rare biscuit box from “LU,” the iconic French biscuit maker

Originally the Lefèvre Utile brand, founded in 1846 in Nantes, thanks to the marriage of Jean Romain Lefèvre and Pauline Isabelle Utile, whose names fused to become LU.

This spectacular box dates, according to the typography, to the 1920s–1930s, the golden age of fine groceries and bulk counters.

A metal box that, over the years, has taken on an extraordinary patina, telling its story of times gone by, with color degradations that make it a unique piece.

The display lid is retractable, with the original intact glass (rare), which, with its signs of wear, has also acquired a beautiful patina; the inscriptions representing the famous little butter biscuits emblematic of the brand are still visible but quite faded.

Note that the lid can be removed as it is nested on the box.

The bottom of the box is embossed metal with various manufacturing inscriptions.

It has no cracks or missing parts.

It measures 26 cm high, 24 cm wide, and 23 cm deep.

Today this box, with its construction and patina that remind us that objects of yesteryear were beautiful and of high quality, is a very beautiful piece for an experienced collector.
