Magnificent, monumental French ceramic soup terrine, complete with accompanying large underplate.
The set is hand-painted in the rich vieux-rouen style by master painter R. Tion, who specialized in reproducing antique pottery in regional styles.
Cream-colored earthenware painted with a fine pattern of scrolls, flower motifs and leaves in shades of blue, ochre yellow and red-orange.
The lid features a beautifully shaped knob in the form of a fruit with a leaf.
The terrine sits on four elegant feet and has robustly stylized handles.
