Very beautiful painting on canvas by the artist Dirk Smorenberg (Netherlands, 1883-1960)
What can be seen is a lovely summer dune landscape
Dirk Smorenberg was one of the few Art Deco painters in the Netherlands and, in addition, a self-taught artist. Both Dirk and his friend Dirk Filarski were inspired by the Swiss expressionist Ferdinand Hodler. He lived in Alkmaar and Bergen and traveled with Filarski across Europe and the United States. In 1924 he settled in Oud-Loosdrecht. Inspired by his new surroundings, from that moment he mainly painted flowers, decorative landscapes and water lilies, drawing inspiration from the water-rich North Holland landscape. For most of his works he designed a matching frame.
