AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Artwork no. 697
Dimensions: 70.00 x 90.00 (cm)

I create paintings using acrylic colors and thousands of small pieces of recycled paper: everyday paper is transformed into art instead of ending up in the trash. In my latest works I have focused on the theme of women treated as objects (dolls) and too often victims of violence, and these are the most recent works I have created.

In this piece a vase of flowers is depicted to symbolize nature, Mother Nature. She too is mistreated by man and endures daily violence.
Two subjects that appear fragile, apparently...

"Not your doll" - "I am not your doll" is a series where I intend to portray women's faces with features reminiscent of classic dolls, and the message is: "even if I look like a real doll, I am not a doll; I am your doll and you can do with me what you want" with all that lies behind it, up to and including, unfortunately, violence.

Born in 1974, I am self-taught.

After an initial period dedicated to sculpture there was a long stop lasting almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I resumed with the "two dimensions" for time and space reasons, leaving sculpture behind and dedicating myself to acrylic paintings.
I love painting abstract landscapes but recently I have been pushing myself to paint faces of people, both imaginary and real.

For me painting is about "freezing time" in that exact moment; one of my paintings is often a faded memory and therefore my works are "worn, eroded by time". Sometimes the subject of my paintings are glimpses of walls also eroded by time, with moss and mushrooms that, over time, grow on the surface.
The inexorable passage of time is the main theme of my works.

Coming from a wonderful experience with clay manipulation, I love sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch, and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs that are clearly perceptible to the touch as well as to the naked eye.

In this recent period, after several years during which my works were created from bits of recycled paper forming figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use painted wooden discs arranged in lines and grids with mathematical precision that, when viewed up close, seem to form an abstract colorful picture, but the further you move away the more a portrait emerges from the 768 painted wooden discs.

Violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all of my works when I reproduce women's faces, precisely to give them a voice when they do not have the strength or courage to report the fact that they are not the dolls of their partners and cannot be mistreated or worse, victims of violence.
