Description from the seller
Herend – Jardin Zoologique Pink (ZOPA) – Centerpiece on Beary Feet – Hand-painted porcelain and 24K gold leaf
Splendid and refined centerpiece crafted in fine porcelain from the prestigious Hungarian manufacturer Herend, featuring the refined Jardin Zoologique Pink (ZOPA) motif, one of the most captivating exotic and Orientalist designs in the maison’s repertoire.
The cup-shaped piece has an elegant flared form and is richly hand-painted in the characteristic pink and purple tones, with a dense composition of exotic birds, flowers, fruits, leaves, and botanical motifs. The decoration extends to both the exterior and the entire inner surface of the cup, creating a remarkably rich and scenographic composition from any perspective.
Particularly valuable are the numerous highlights, profiles, and finishes executed in 24-karat gold leaf, applied by hand, which embellish the decoration and elegantly emphasize the different elements of the composition.
The piece is further enhanced by four magnificent beary feet, also finished in 24-karat gold leaf, which support the cup above an elegant square base. The edges of the base, the lower profile of the cup, and the wide upper rim are also finished in 24-karat gold leaf. The overall effect recalls Neoclassical and Empire tastes, reinterpreted according to Herend’s extraordinary decorative tradition.
On the bottom, the Herend Hungary mark is present, accompanied by numbers and workshop marks. A specimen attributable to production from the second half of the 20th century.
An object of great elegance and strong decorative presence, where the quality of the porcelain, the hand painting, the richness of the ZOPA motif, and the abundant use of 24-karat gold leaf create a particularly refined ensemble.
Dimensions: diameter 20.5 cm; height 10 cm; square base 11.9 × 11.9 cm.
Ideal as an important centerpiece on a console, table, or sideboard, it can be magnificently integrated into both classical interiors and contemporary minimalist spaces, where the contrast between the porcelain’s white, the purple tones, and the gold can transform it into an elegant focal point.
Excellent overall condition, with possible very slight signs compatible with age and use, as detailed in the accompanying photographs.
Photographs are an integral part of the description.
Packing will be handled by Ankerior, specialists in packing and handling of artworks, with training and certification from Palazzo Spinelli, Florence.
