Neo-classical / Second Empire or late Victorian wooden wall barometer-thermometer (late 19th – early 20th century), typical of high-quality French or Belgian furnishings.

Large size: 75 × 33 × 6 cm
Materials and construction
Wood: oak or light walnut, stained and varnished, with a handsome grain visible.
Overall form: slender vertical silhouette, of the “cartouche” or “trophy” type.
Upper part:
Pediment-shaped crown sculpted with volutes and acanthus leaves.
Small gallery with turned balusters.
Two fluted columns framing the thermometer.
Central part: a carved knot in the form of a twisted olive, providing the transition.
Lower part:
Large circular dial of the barometer.
Richly carved surround of acanthus leaves and symmetrical volutes ending in a lower point.

Mercury tube with double scale.
Graduated enamelled scale (white enamel scale).
Visible graduation from about −10 °C to +50 °C.
Inscriptions: “THERMOMETER” and “CENTIGRADE.”
Aneroid barometer (lower part)
White dial with movable needle and recall needle.
