Description from the seller

Beautiful Art Deco pair of bookends – stylized kid goats in patinated régule on marble.

Made in France in the 1960s.

Very nice pair of antique bookends representing two stylized kid goats, probably, fantastical animal-like youngsters, facing each other in an elegant symmetrical composition.
The sculptures are made in patinated régule with a greenish patina, featuring numerous finely worked details: musculature, ears, mane and raised tail. Each rests on a black marble base with white veining, providing a particularly decorative contrast to the whole.
The overall aesthetic fully evokes the Art Deco period, with its stylized lines and dynamic representation of animals.
