Description from the seller

Pierre MAS (1933) - Autumn Underwood - Large original gouache signed

Splendid and luminous original gouache painting on paper by the renowned French artist Pierre Mas (born in 1933).
This masterful work depicts a forest path transformed by the flaming colors of autumn.
The artist demonstrates here an exceptional mastery of gouache technique, playing with dense textures for the vertical tree trunks and vibrant splashes in the tones of gold, ochre and amber to convey the foliage and the diffuse light of the season. A few touches of bright yellow in the foreground punctuate the composition and guide the eye along a luminous path.

About the painter:
Born in 1933, Pierre Mas is a renowned artist whose painting practice is deeply marked by a sensitive, poetic and textured vision of nature.
His woodland and rural landscapes are distinguished by a unique treatment of light and intense chromatic exploration, at the border between Impressionism and modernity. His works regularly feature in private collections and prestigious auctions.
