He dropped out of school and kept himself afloat with odd jobs. As he rose in stature, he earned a sports scholarship to the University of Oklahoma and drew the attention of scouts.
His first teams were the Detroit Pistons from 1986 to 1993, with whom he won the championships in 1989 and 1990. Subsequently, he began his ascent through the NBA. He moved to the San Antonio Spurs, and in the 1995/96 season he joined the Chicago Bulls. In 1998 he moved to the Los Angeles Lakers, and in the 1999/2000 season he played for the Dallas Mavericks.
In total, Rodman led the NBA in rebounds seven times, and he was honored twice with the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award. The 2.01-meter tall man is regarded as one of the best defenders and rebounders in NBA history.
In 2000 Dennis Rodman ended his career with the Dallas Mavericks. In 2011 he was finally inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
