In this series, characters from the world of video games, cartoons and mangas become an integral part of the wall. They are not simply depicted on the surface: they play, interact and live directly inside it, transforming the wall itself into part of the artwork and the scene.

An extension of Broken Wall, where image, matter and space become one.

The work can be hung as it is or as in the photo. The framed photos are only an example of how the artist suggests displaying the piece; the frame is not included in the sale. Only the artwork will be shipped.

Technique: Spray stencil and mixed media on materials recovered from the street, selected to preserve the identity and authenticity of the street art language.

The paste-up (or poster art) is a street art technique in which the artist creates the work on paper in the studio and then pastes it on a wall in the street.

Dimensions: The indicated dimensions refer to the proposed exemplar and should be considered approximate due to the shape and irregular perimeter of the fragment.

Broken Wall

Broken Wall arises from Mart Signed’s exploration of the relationship between street art, matter and urban memory.

The project brings into homes, galleries and private collections a fragment of street language, transforming a surface marked by time into a contemporary artwork.

The wall is not merely the support for the image, but becomes an integral part of the work.

Its surface, the ruptures, the traces of time and the natural characteristics of the material preserve the link with the urban context from which street art is born.

The fracture thus becomes an element of the artistic language: the boundary between the street and the exhibition space is broken and the urban fragment finds a new placement.

Materials and authenticity

Materials recovered from the street are chosen to maintain the living relationship with the original language of street art.

Marks, abrasions, surface variations, irregularities and natural imperfections are not defects, but elements that belong to the material’s history and to the artwork’s identity.

These characteristics are intentionally preserved and integrated into the creative process.

The work is signed, accompanied by the authentic certificate signed by the artist and delivered ready to hang.

The frame is not included, unless otherwise indicated for the specific exemplar.

Instagram and project participation

The journey of the artwork can continue even after purchase.

Collectors can share their artwork on Instagram by tagging @martsigned and using the hashtag #MartSigned.

Works correctly tagged may be reshared by the artist through their channels, showing the different destinations reached by the works and creating a direct connection between artist, collector and audience.

Periodically, special initiatives, raffles or small street art-related gifts may also be organized through social networks.

Participation is voluntary and independent of the purchase of the work. Any modalities and conditions are communicated through the artist’s official channels.

The artist

Mart Signed is an Italian street artist active internationally.

His works are part of private collections in many countries and his artistic research develops around the concept “Where Are You Street Art?”: bringing the language and material of the street inside homes, galleries, private collections and spaces traditionally distant from the urban context.

Over the years Mart Signed has developed his international presence through collaborations and relationships with various players in the art world.

His research relates street art, urban memory, recovered materials and space transformation.

In 2023 Mart Signed also participated in a documentary dedicated to Banksy and street art culture.

Shipping

The artwork is shipped via specialized couriers managed by Mail Boxes Etc.

Each piece is carefully packaged, protected and insured, with particular attention to the most delicate parts and the irregular shape of the support.

The shipment has full tracking, from departure to delivery.

In case of a high number of shipments, preparation and delivery may require a few additional days.

Edition and uniqueness

Broken Wall comprises a limited series of 20 unique works.

Each piece is produced individually and no exemplar can be identical to another. The shape of the support, the rupture, the surface, the marks, the imperfections and the material characteristics naturally vary from work to work, making each piece unrepeatable.

The 20 works share the same artistic project and the same conceptual core, but each maintains its own physical and visual identity.

They are therefore not 20 copies or reproductions of the same piece, but 20 unique and different pieces, all belonging to the Broken Wall series.

Each work is identified by a specific code printed on the certificate of authenticity.
