Portrait of the artist's mother, 2020+, oil on canvas copy by Clara Lumière, Italy, a profile portrait.
Description from the seller
Oil painting on canvas, an artist's copy created by the artist Clara Lumière
Inspired by the celebrated "Portrait of the artist's mother" by James McNeill Whistler, kept at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
The work faithfully reproduces the original composition: the female figure in profile, seated with her hands folded in her lap, wearing a black dress and a white cap, stands out against a gray-blue background enriched by a dark curtain and two framed pictures hanging on the wall. The color rendering, played in shades of gray, black, and white, recalls the sober and rigorous atmosphere of the original.
This is a painter's copy, not an original work nor a print: the painting has been entirely executed by hand in oil.
Suitable as a decorative piece for lovers of nineteenth-century painting and for interiors in Victorian/Whistlerian style.
