Table lamp - Bakelite, Plastic, Metal - Theratherm, Space Age

Interesting OSRAM Theratherm therapeutic lamp, manufactured in Germany in the mid-20th century and originally conceived as an infrared heat lamp. An attractive example of domestic industrial design from the 1950s-1960s, which, due to its organic and futuristic shapes, presents a pronounced Space Age aesthetic.

The piece stands out for its characteristic desk-top structure, formed by a base with soft, rounded lines on which a wide reflector in dark brown sits. The upper body is adjustable, allowing the tilt to be modified and the heat source directed, a functional solution that is an essential part of its singular design.

The combination of materials and colors, together with the large circular reflector and the aerodynamic shapes of the base, makes this old functional device an interesting object of postwar German industrial design, especially attractive today as a collectible piece and a vintage decoration item.

Made by combining plastic material and Bakelite/thermo-stable components, it retains its characteristic configuration and presents a good vintage condition, with the normal and light signs derived from the passage of time and use, visible in the photographs. Current checks show that it functions correctly.

The lamp measures approximately 25 cm wide × 22 cm tall, with a base width of about 23 cm. It corresponds to the OSRAM Theratherm model or line, of German origin and dateable to roughly the 1950s–1960s. It remains in good vintage condition and fully retains its appeal as a functional and decorative Mid-Century/Space Age design piece.
