Rare vintage chess set from Vietnam, 1960s. Probably made from water buffalo horn (bovine) in black and light translucent material, beautifully carved in Regence style. The king is 7.5 cm tall. The wooden board measures 37 x 37 cm, featuring inlaid square mother-of-pearl; the board can be closed. The light squares are hand-engraved with images, including birds. The whole set is in excellent condition. Insured shipping from the Netherlands.
