A gorgeous, monumental pair (set of two) of large Delft blue calabash vases (also called bulb vases).
These vases have the classical, fluted (ribbed) double-bulb shape historically inspired by 17th-century Asian porcelain.
The vases are fully hand-painted in a traditional blue-and-white decor with rich floral motifs, leafy sprays, insects and birds.
Both vases bear at the bottom the hand-painted blue maker's mark 'JV' (underglaze).
