Original period decorative print produced with the pochoir technique.
This print is part of the unique series on French horse racing, by Charles Ancelin.
Published by the "Galerie Lutetia" in Paris in the 1920s.
Charles Ancelin (1863-1940) was one of the best-known French illustrators, who focused on equestrian scenes and events. His works from the Twenties are still highly sought after by Deco art collectors and horse-world enthusiasts for the way he conveyed the energy of speed through stylized forms.
The pochoir alternates bright colors with more subdued ones to give depth to the image. The color is laid on the paper evenly with a sponge-like effect. The work features some lighter details to create light reflections.
The print is very elegant and the riders, in particular, mark the period and the Art Deco style.
It is ideal to pair with one or more of the other "Horse Races".
A work of great taste and perfect as a decorative furnishing element.
