Description (French):
Original period-era print made circa 1980 on Ilfochrome Classic paper by master printer Roland Dufau, originating from the personal archives of photographer and reporter Mireille Vautier.
This striking documentary composition captures Cuban reality through an intimate interior: a framed portrait of Ernesto Che Guevara hangs above a vintage television, against an ochre wall patinated by time. The richness of warm tones and the glossy finish of the polyester support illustrate the mastery of the direct positive process by Roland Dufau.

Artist Biography:
Mireille Vautier, educated at Sciences Po Paris and holder of a Master’s degree from Cornell University (USA), carried out numerous ethnographic and photographic missions for UNESCO. Her work has been disseminated by major photo news agencies, including ANA. Her work has received support and recognition from leading figures in international photography, including Joan Fontcuberta, Hasselblad Prize laureate (often referred to as the Nobel Prize of photography). Her reports and books have been published by prestigious publishers such as Actes Sud, Nathan, and Hazan.
