The artist was born in 1957 in Suhl. He acquired his craft fundamentals from 1980–1984 at the Academy of the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig. He lives and works near Leipzig. In 2009 he was admitted as a self-t taught artist to the Bund Bildender Künstler Leipzig, which he left again in 2021 because of the gendering of language there. The painter regularly exhibits in several smaller galleries in and around Leipzig, and often works as an Artist in Residence near Arta.
